Feeling somewhat annoyed. My asthma just isn’t settling down. Now on another course of prednisolone for seven days. . Seem to be needing that every 6 to 8 weeks. I’m under the care of a respiratory consultant. And still have a barrage of test to be done. If been walking as much as I can but have to use such a lot of ventolin. But gp yesterday said not to for a few days and to rest. Breathless putting laundry away, walking up stairs. Trying to be positive but it gets to me especially when the prednisilone stops me being able to sleep very On ventolin. Montelukast and three inhalers prescribed by consultant. Cold weather not helping. So spending a lot of time watching tv. No energy for anything else. Not so much a moan but sometimes there’s just the need to tell someone. Thanks for listening. Just want to let you know you're not alone. I've just finished my course of prednisolone today but unlike you it doesn't stop me sleeping, although I am absolutely shattered.
Don't know about you but sometimes, I'm a little bit tearful as well... frustration I think.
Still taking my ventolin, Montelukast and steroid inhalers and should hopefully be out of this exacerbation very soon. A bit more rest and TV required!
I have to be.... got my covid vaccination next Weds. There is light at the end of the tunnel and we can all support each other till we get there.
I'm very new to this site and love the way that everyone comes together with kind words and advice. I've been an asthmatic for about 28 years now and just wish I had joined the site a long time ago.

This is a lovely place for mutual support. I’ve found it ver valuable. Hope you are okay for your jab. I had mine a couple of weeks ago.
You really are going through it! The steroids’ side effects can be horrible and the lack of sleep in itself will be making you feel worse, but they will also be working to reduce inflammation and improve your breathing. The only thing I can suggest is to rest as much as you can and do only the absolute minimum. Snuggle down and semi-hibernate! Really hope you feel better soon.

Hard as it sounds it is (because you want to be active), I think you do need to rest to give your body time to get over this. Once doing simple things is easy then you can start to build up slowly but, especially with the weather, it might have to be gradual.
Reading that and feeling bad because you and others are suffering much worse than I am . Xx
I think we all share the same set of symptoms and problems it just varies from time to time and from person to person. It’s just so good being able to be honest about it with people who know what I’m talking about.
Sorry to hear and can empathise very much with you. My pattern over the past year has been similar, needing rescue steroids every couple of months. You mentioned not sleeping because of the steroids. My GP prescribed me Anxicalm (diazepam) to take at night to help with sleeping when I’m on steroids and it really helps. Maybe worth asking your GP about? Exacerbations are hard enough without being totally sleep-deprived into the bargain!
Sorry to hear and after reading your post it sounds much like me currently on 2nd day of prednisolone only had last course 3 months ago and In between time still quite breathless😢 just got up as hungry and couldn't sleep so sympathise completely with you.
After reading what your going through it sounds the same as I what I'm going through test after test , you feel like a guinea pig with all the different meds and tests with nothing working and trying to get your inhalers as near to impossible at my Dr surgery they keep stopping mine saying I'm using too much and I need an asthma review and that's a joke you make appointment and they cancel nurse has gone off sick so you 're schedule another appointment and yet again they go off sick , I'm under the specialist at the hospital the same as you and they put me on prednisone and I gained weight and bruised all over they tried different inhalers only have the delight of vomiting after use , the tiredness I agree is the one of the worst and a nightmare wanting to sleep all the time and when you get to bed your unable to get comfy I suffer from under active thyroid so it's like a double whammy , I use a small mini hand fan, with my inhaler which helps with the air , I've not had vaccination yet they seem to be taken ages stil concentrating on the elderly , I am little worried though having it as you read that some people have been really ill afterwards.. Did you feel ok ? I think I there's not enough done for asthmatics as it what you call an unseen illness to the eye so when you tell anyone they don't understand unless your the same I've not been on the sight very long but it's great 👍 to know that your not alone and there's always loads of people who reach out with support and kindness I hope your all keeping safe and keep trying to relax forget the housework just concentrate on yourself dizzy412, I know ignoring the housework is difficult but take time for relaxation x
I had my first Covid jab a week ago. But of a sore arm and tired and achy for a couple days but nothing major. So don’t worry.
I had my jab two weeks ago and only very mild side effects. Nothing more than when I get the flu jab. Asthma is a horrible thing as you say, unseen and I think underestimated ,by some too. Horrible all the tests and waiting to. I’ve got three appointments coming up in the next few weeks. Hang in there and one day at a time.
I can really sympathise. I’m currently on a long course of steroids due to post covid symptoms. I have no energy breathlessness and coughing. Been back and forth to a n e for a month to get neubilisers and tests for clotting. I loathe taking steroids. I cant sleep and shake all the time. I am going out for short walks which I find difficult but believe it is essential to keep exercising. I’m sure better days will come. Hang on in there
Sorry to hear you having been having such a hard time. I love walking and am going to try to get back to it in the next day or two. I hope things start to improve for you soon.
Take it carefully when you do get back to it - I imagine there is a difference between exercising with post-covid breathlessness and an asthma flare (or recovering from one) because with post-covid it is often feeling breathless and breathing pattern issues whereas asthma is inflammation in the airways causing them to narrow - so "pushing on" could actually be dangerous. Hopefully things have settled down though and you can get back to it gradually because of course exercise is important still - but not when one is in a flare. Hope that makes sense?!
Sorry to hear you are having such a tough time, hopefully things will get better soon even if it warms up next week maybe that might help.
