Hope everyone is keeping well, so I tried to stop smoking a few months back and it was going ok up until December when I had a relapse and started again. I know have a really crackly cough, sometimes thick phlegm will come up and it sounds clear again. I am pretty sure this is due to the smoking but with covid it always makes you worry.
I need to really try to stop the smoking

Hi , I too was a committed smoker and tried to give up for years one of my friends gave me the book The Only Way to Stop Smoking by Allan Carr. It worked, I’m not one for self help boos generally but this isn’t like that. Honestly just give it a read there’s nothing to lose. I’ve not stopped smoking since. Re your cough if you don’t have a temperature and don’t feel wretched then it’s probably as you suspect just a smokers cough but if your worried talk to your doctor or asthma nurse. Good luck. Jo
Is it like your smokers' cough previously? If so it's probably that but if not, or if you're not sure/can't remember, it would be a good idea to get a covid test just to be sure. A new cough or different cough is supposed to be the decider for people who cough anyway (because of medical issues but assume for smokers too). I would go on "well that's my only symptom" or "I don't have a temperature" because the symptoms vary hugely from person to person.
