Pain in the neck

Hi, have had a really stiff neck for over a week now. I know there is not much asthmatics can use so called doctor, he advised cocodamol and said I could also use Nurofen gel.

Peak flow has gone done and was short of breath, anyone had this using the gel?

Any input appreciated thanks 😀

Hi

Are you taking the cocodamol? Codeine (which is in cocodamol) can cause issues issues in asthmatics (personally I literally forget to breathe 😅). Paracetamol by itself (the other half of cocodamol) is usually ok for asthmatics.

With nsaids painkillers for asthmatics it’s a personally thing. Some people can use all of them, others can’t use one or 2, others can’t have any. I think usually paracetamol is usually the one that most people are good with and ibuprofen/aspirin are the ones that are more likely to cause issues.

Gels are usually better than tablets (so long as no allergy) as they are absorbed differently.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your reply, I didnt get the cocodamol just taking paracetamol but my neck is miserable. Called doctor yesterday and he has sent me 5 days of prednisolone 🤞

I can't tolerate any ibuprofen gels becauseof my aspirin sensitivity. As we have a physio in the family we're encouraged to exercise things like stiff necks, frozen shoulder, arm pains, sore knees etc and they really work, quite quickly too. Check out physio vids on YouTube for stiff necks, there are loads to choose from but I would stick to one made by a qualified physio.

Thank you for your reply, I have been doing a few light neck exercises as I had this two years ago and went for Physio for about 6 weeks but I will look on Utube Thanks

Alternatively, book in with an osteopath. They are open and most likely will have an appt for today if you want it (or tomorrow)
