Treating tight and sore chest tips

Hi had bad asthma flare up last two weeks and combined chest infection, feeling better now but still slightly rough in morning. Wondered if other than waiting for meds to kick in and steaming if anyone had any more tips for dealing with constant tight and sore chest associated with asthma flare up. Mine was more or less constant over past two weeks. Was on prednisone, my preventer 4x a day and daily maxed out on reliever. Welcome any tips?

Sending empathy..... This damp weather is a challenge for me. Along with prednisolone, I have recently started on Ventolin nebules 5mg, and find that paracetamol helps me. I have what feels like a stitch in my upper left chest, a big bear giving me a permanent hug during the day and an elephant sitting on my chest at night. Amoxicillin is lessening the copious mucus, with regular steamy baths/showers first thing. Hope you find some relief soon.

I really feel for you yellow.. I’m sorry I don’t have any helpful advice I just want to send hugs - this weather and the big season is horrid. Sadly you aren’t alone x

Thanks all, feeling better than last week. Did use heating pads last week too, which was soothing. Did feel the elephant sitting on chest as well, weirdly though when I get like that I also feel as though I want someone to pummel the top part of my back too😂

It does sound like your respiratory system is sore and very tired. If you have a partner or someone else who can pummel your back then definitely do that - you're body's telling you what it wants. I find back pummelling such a relief and helps when you're worn out by the flare up/chest infection. Daily back massages can help too. Arnica massage balm can help tired muscles.

If you look on YouTube for physio vids, there are some really useful tips on helping clear the lungs etc.

Hope you feel better very soon.

Thanks for reply poobah, I’ll look for videos on it. Glad it’s not only me that feels like need back pummelling although it always feels a bit counterintuitive if I’m saying chest is tight/sore then asking for external pressure to be actually applied!😀
