I agree. Best to talk to your gp. It depends on the severity of symptoms to how long prednisolone takes for you to feel improvements. I usually notice a difference after 3 days but can take a week or more if my asthmas been particularly bad.
If pred not making a difference by day 4 definitely talk to the doc.
I wouldn't go ahead and buy a nebuliser unless my doc had agreed it as they would be prescribing the nebuled meds that are used in the machine.
You've been bad for quite a while so it may take a while to feel better. It may be worth talking to the doc about antibiotics. I have to be careful when flying long haul as I'm likely to get a low level infection. You may have picked something up on your trip.
As for hospital, different countries have different approaches to emergency treatment of asthma. In the UK you would be assessed and given corticosteroids by IV, if necessary OR you may be nebulised with a reliever. It depends on the severity of the symptoms.
