Having had 3 months off in the Autumn due to my asthma, without having the virus or presenting any symptoms this isn’t something I could ideally afford to do. However, I’m a supply teacher and as of yesterday with the announcement schools are being closed I am kinda now being forced into self-isolation.

I'm a teacher but am hoping against hope that my school don't make me go in to for the key worker children. I am still on prednisolone and my breathing is the worst it has been for about 20 years. Talk about timing. I am still going out for walks because I think I need fresh air. But I panic every time I see another person. My hubby is still going out and every time he comes home I worry more. Should he be self isolating too? I just don't know.

I think the current advice for those considered vulnerable is stringent social distancing but to self isolate if you have symptoms of Covid-19. However, the government has indicated that advice will be updated very shortly and we can expect to be asked to self isolate for at least 12 weeks. And no doubt there will eventually be more restrictions for society as a whole.

But many people who are vulnerable have already started self isolation.

Check for updates at: gov.uk/government/publicati...

I was at my GP yesterday for a 2nd back to back pred course, when I asked if I could return to work if I felt well he said no, when I asked about the 12 week isolation and should I do it if I get notified he said yes definitely. The potential severity of the situation was brought home when I went in. Last week I had symptoms which may or may not have been CV, yesterday I was taken to a room to be isolated, the doctor came in wearing goggles, mask, gloves and apron to conduct the examination. That makes me think it worth doing as they recommend for those of us with compromised lungs.

I’m Brittle Asthmatic (Ventedx6)

Mums got Heart Disease & lives 50 miles away, so I’ve left my Husband & Son to fend for themselves & have come to stay with Mum for the foreseeable (we’ve both been socially distancing for wks now)

I strongly believe in prevention is better than cure, now more than ever!!

I’m currently in locked horns with my Father-in-Law (via-phone) he’s 75yrs old with a long standing heart condition & doesn’t feel the need to isolate whatsoever, still going the Gym🤯

Giving no thought to his lovely wife who suffers greatly with Arthritis & so would struggle to care for him should he become infected!

No doubt other stubborn/selfish ppl like him, that’s unknowingly spreading the virus

However if they/he was to get ill he/they would surely need/want an already scarce ICU bed

It’s making my blood boil, not that you’d notice🤬

People, please pass on your knowledge/concerns to other less educated, less considerate people, there’s a much bigger world outside they’re tiny bubbles!!

Stay safe & well everybody🙏

I am self isolating, that is I do leave the house occasionally but touch nothing and don’t interact with anyone. I am 70 with what I would call moderate asthma (it can trouble me a lot at times), so I feel I have two reasons to be careful. And just now I don’t even want a cold, as it could get difficult if it got to my chest and I needed more help. For now I feel it is the least I can do. So far it is fine (5 days, only another 79 to go) and if I can support the NHS by not getting unwell with anything, then that is good.

I have Severe Allergic Asthma and have not chosen to self-isolate. I know that I should be but (without divulging what my job is), I am responsible for the safety and well-being of others. I would love to self-isolate and I could work from home, however I’m happy to continue to go to work each day taking great precautions as long as I am able to help others. My parents aren’t happy at all with my decision but my husband is and work are very grateful. If cases become known in my home town, I will self-isolate though because that would just be silly of me!
