Advice about asthma and chest infection
It is very dangerous to self medicate. Call 111 for advice. They can get a doctor to call you and advise you.
Yes you can take steroids without the ABx (the steroids are for the asthma, the ABx are for the infection). Depending on the side effects try to keep taking the ABx until you see someone tomorrow tho... alternatively call 111 for advice today. Hope that helps.
I called 111 and I attended an out of hours doctor's appointment and they said that I did not have a chest infection and do not need to take antibiotics or steroids but I still have a bit of a wheeze and I cough up green phlegm and I stopped taking the antibiotics because I can't deal with the bad side effects
If you’re still feeling like your asthma is flaring then I’d suggest seeing the GP first thing tomorrow... then ask them about the steroids and ABx... tbh he may have more of an idea cause he knows you and your case. As I said the steroids aren’t for the infection, they are for your asthma, which can be irritated by anything... even just a mild cold....
