I'm kind of after other people's experiences here as have had a bit of a weekend. My asthma is pretty well managed. My last serious episode was about 15 years ago and I remember the ordeal pretty vividly. However this weekend I had a bad attack (caused by allergy). I took antihistamines and lots of my blue inhaler. To cut a long story short, I left it and left it (as I didn't want to cause a fuss) and gradually did improve a bit however last night I still couldn't catch my breath properly and was still wheezing a lot with horrendous back pain. After speaking to 111 and being passed round a few individuals, I managed to get an appt with a doctor I know from my own surgery at the urgent care centre. However she said my oxygen levels were fine and that I had no wheeze. I felt too rough to complain and had no-one else with me however oddly I'd even recorded the sound of my chest as it was pretty disturbing. I feel pretty cheated. She said she couldn't even give me a prescription for a new inhaler because I prefer a powder one to the standard. That seems weird too. I had a dodgy night's sleep and although I'm improving, my chest still feels awful and just generally feeling a little low and upset by the treatment (or lack of). It's not like I'm complaining every week - this was my first cause to worry since my last big attack 15 years ago and my health generally is tip-top (other than endometriosis). Has anyone had similar? Any tips to start feeling a bit better (other than the usual?). Sad and despondent ...
Hoping everyone else is breathing well and happy today - this weekend made me remember how scary it is to suffer from asthma.
