Sleeping upright

I have eosinophilic asthma and continuous fatigue. I'm wondering whether to try sleeping upright and wonder if anyone has suggestions how to start doing that? I sleep on my side normally. Mattress wedges? Cervical support pillow? Stacks of pillows - what's the best thing?

If you are going to prop yourself up in bed it's best to put things under your mattress otherwise you can damage your neck. Great way to hide spare curtains pillows etc

I broke my shoulder in June & was told to sleep sitting up until it had healed. I put a thick cushion against the bed head, stacked 2 pillows in front & then put one of those v shaped pillows half way up the pile. It was reasonably comfortable but it was brilliant when I was allowed to lie down again.

I sleep upright and have a stack of pillows. I bought a wedge pillow but my bed is wedged between the wall and an old chimney that sticks out into the room and I haven’t been able to lift the mattress. Putting things under the mattress is probably more comfortable and better for your neck like starveycat said. Also I have an adjustable back rest but at the moment I’m sticking with my stack of pillows.

I’ve gone down the route of buying a wedge pillow from Amazon. That with a couple of pillows makes my breathing a lot easier and I get a good nights sleep. Think the wedge was less than £15. I use it on top of my mattress - it’s very firm and non slip so keeps those slippy pillows in place.

I’ve got a u shaped pillow that I put under my ribs to sleep when I’ve been bad, I got it from Dunelm, think it was about £12

I have tried that but I did not find it comfortable. I love around a lot at night so everything has to be moved. Might work for you though. Give it a try x

I have a pillow armchair - five piled up behind me, (depends how thick the pillows are) and one trapped either side so it's like an armchair, and one under my knees, to help stop sliding down. Good luck!
