Reasons To Be Cheerful

Reasons To Be Cheerful (and greatful) this Christmas.

Thank You Sir David Jack & Team

Don’t recognise the name?

You (and me) owe this guy and his Team ‘Big Time’.

The Blue Inhaler that gets us out of trouble so often, was the result of their development of Salbutamol back in 1966, at a subsidiary of Glaxo called Allen & Hanbury located In Ware, Hertfordshire. It was subsequently branded and launched as Ventolin in 1969.

Just try to imagine what life would have been like without it.

It gave me a chance of living a ‘near normal’ life, rather than being a ‘mere observer’ watching from the sidelines.

Can’t think of anyone I owe more of a debt of gratitude too than these folk (except perhaps my mum).

Raise a Glass or two to them this festive season (and don’t forget the name - Sir David Jack).

We certainly should be very grateful, I know I am. Thank you for the reminder.

Wow never knew that. Am quite shocked it was so relatively recent as 1969. Never thought about it before though. x

You are making such a good point! Our daughter, born 1983, really benefitted. She was diagnosed when she was five (and already had a barrell chest. It went quickly with the right medication.) But my father didn’t. He struggled all his life, though he did not let that stop him much I gather. He died from asthma when he was 29. Told at 19 he would die from it, though he lasted longer than predicted. I have more often than I can say wished that he had had access to modern medications. So, you are so right, it is so important, and Sir Jack is someone to be truly grateful to.
