My sister has had a good spell lately with her asthma. She could do anything she wanted but a fortnight ago it came back went to Drs. Told it was infection given steroids rescue pack and antibiotics. Last Monday no better so rang Drs. Told by receptionist dr would ring her as no appointments. A new dr rang her afternoon and told her to go straight to hospital as he thought she had cysts on her chest and they were bursting. She went to a and e to be told she had a virus and her asthma was playing up. Put on nebulizer and told to take steroids. Friday not much better went to Drs and given more steroids. She is so Fed up. Exhausted and tired. Told by dr at hospital it could take up to 8 week to get rid of virus.

Hi twiddles2 sorry your asthma out of control I know someone that gets a injection for their asthma every month.
My asthma okay but I have just found out I have lung cancer stage 4 has spread.
It is hard when you have a viral infection on top of asthma. I can remember how ill I felt a couple of years ago. It did take several weeks to clear up and I felt exhausted. The steroids helped a little, but mainly it was symptomatic treatment until the infection spent its course. I found I needed to cough a lot to keep my chest clear, as I didn't want a secondary chest infection. Hopefuly she will gradually improve with lots of rest and good care. All the best.
