Home a week trying to hard maybe

I have been home from hospital a week I went into hospital with viral cold exasperation of asthma went to itu ventilated to ward back to itu hdu back to ward then found I stopped breathing and ended up on life support due to hospital aquired pneumonia so I came home on niv day and night use I have been trying to cut down the amount I use the machine but I am ok for a couple of hours then all of a sudden I feel I can’t breath again I check my sats and they will of dropped from 97 to 90 I feel like I can’t get air into my lungs so I think I am trying to push things I am to scared to leave my home in case I drop my sats when I am out am I trying to hard I don’t have a plan in place other than use the machine 10hrs at night and as and when I need to during the day I have just started to reduce the steroids and antibiotics have finished so do I just stay on doing what I am do I talk to my specialist nurse or my go or do I just let myself rest as I can’t do much before I am exhausted getting a little frustrated I try to be independent but I am finding that really hard as I am so tired out xx

Poor you! Sounds like you have been through the wars! I was in hospital in March with flu that triggered my asthma. It took me a long time to recover, longer than I expected. If you are worried though, I would ring the Asthma UK nurses and see what they suggest. Otherwise, go back to your GP. Good luck, take it easy and hope you feel better soon. xxx
