Antibiotics work against bacterial infections. Generally colds are caused by a virus infection and antibiotics don't work to treat them. Normal advice for colds is keep warm, drink plenty, take painkillers such as paracetamol. Cold medicines tend to only help the symptoms. If you are a bit chesty then an inhalation might make you feel better as it helps to shift any mucus.

Obviously if infection is on your chest you need to see Doctor. Hope you feel better soon
