Ill yet again

Hey, just wanting to vent here ... I seem to be constantly ill this winter with colds and chest infections, and it’s quite disheartening. I’ve just about got over a particularly nasty infection/flare up but am now coming down with a cold and can feel my chest tightening, so am probably going to be ill for the rest of the week at least - not ideal as I’m starting in a new team at work. Reading posts on here, I get the feeling a lot of people are struggling at the moment so I’m obviously not unusual, and I have moderate rather than severe asthma so at least it’s treatable, but I still feel like it’s having way too much impact on my life :-(. Don’t really have a point to make - just wanted to moan a bit about how unfair it all is!

I had the same Asthma problem and then one of my best friends suggested me to use a good air purifier(aids4mobility.co.uk/hepa-ai... and then I started feeling well and my condition never deteriorated.

Feel free to rant, we all have those days. I went through a few years where I got chest infections all the time. I have been taking a 1000mg vitamin C daily as well as a multivitamin and Ad-cal (because of the steroids). It seems to help. As well as being on a maintenance prednisolone and being able to up the dose when my symptoms deteriorate. This allows me to stay on top of my asthma and i made it to March without being ill. Then I got flu (despite having the flu jab). Unfortunately none of my prevention helped. I am still recovering a month later! Oh well, we can't protect against everything.

Hi there, I feel for you, I really do. I have had the winter you are having and am back to the docs this morning as I was at out of hours over the Easter weekend with yet another chest infection and although I have been given 5 days of steriods think I need more as symptoms not resolved. I can't quite believe how bad it has been.

I too had just about recovered from the last flare/infection and came down with this. Rant away thats what this forum is all about and I for one am so grateful that there are people who understand and care.

I got the anti flu injection Wasim hospital for seven days in November. Came down with another chest infection mid March and am still recovering from same. Am just wondering has it anything to do with the weather. We are having a very prolonged winter.

That sounds awful, sorry to hear that. I’ve just got back from the doctor - she agreed that it’s been a very long winter. I guess that’s why we’re all struggling
