What benefit will specialist be?

Since having flu which meant hospital stay for five days my asthma/cold has not cleared and I was on steroids etc until the of April,after reviews etc with the surgery asthma nurse and my doctor have made an appointment with the respiratory medicine at the hospital as my medication is not helping at all,I am on corsair 200 twice daily,montelukast nightly and debuting my question is why do I have to go to specialist what benefit will it be?

I had flu 3 years ago it took 18 months for my chest to feel normal again it could just be you need time for your body to fight the infection . Specialist treatment can only be a good thing perhaps if I'd seen one I might have been better quicker .

The word 'Specialist' mean that they are a specialist in respiratory conditions and they will know all the latest treatments and will be able to help you better than an ordinary doctor.

You don't have to go if you don't want to of course. x
