In December I had an asthma attack that put me in hospital. On top of that I had flu, and secondary infections of the sinuses and chest. Although I am much better I find myself getting short of breath. Not all the time but when I do things like take clean washing upstairs etc. I never used to get short of breath doing everyday things and it has made me wonder if it will be like this permanently.
I do plan on going to see the asthma nurse to have a good chat about my asthma and I am also hoping to put a plan of action into place at work once I've talked to the nurse.
I do not entirely trust the first aiders at work to help me in the event of another severe attack.
Take care everyone.

Sorry to hear you have been unwell. I have been feeling exactly the same as you for the last 3 months. I was ill with a viral chest infection at the beginning of November and am still very short of breath even now and still producing mucus. I must admit that it has been a struggle to control my asthma and it still isn't really, having changed inhalers at least 4 times, it appears that nothing actually stops it completely. I have had 3 lots of antibiotics and 2 lots of pred which although worked my cough came almost straight back. I too am wondering if I will now be like this forever( I hope not) or if the infection will eventually go or the asthma flare subside. The doctors seem very reluctant to prescribe further antibiotics or steriods so I am not sure where to turn now.
I know how you feel. I was in hospital before Christmas with an exacerbation. I had 1 week of steroids in November. 3 weeks of steroids in December. Managed 2 weeks without steroids and now I was put back on them on Friday. I have been of work since 24th November. Went back on the 16th December. Had to get an ambulance on the 17th. And with all this, I feel I’m getting put under pressure to go back to work. Spoke to dr on Friday. And he said if I went back just now, I run the risk of being admitted to hospital. I don’t know what to do.
Don't risk it. You have an underlying health condition so even though your employer doesn't like you being off he/she can't really do anything.
Follow your doctors advise. I don't know what you do for a living but I have asked my employer if i can do some work from home simply to give me something to do, there's only so much day time telly you can watch
In the same boat. I had an Asthma attack before Christmas then a couple of flare ups.
I am now entering week 4 of not being able to Walk, Talk or Eat without getting out of breath. I've had 2 lots of antibiotics and steroids, last night I was at the hospital and was put on a nebulizer. Sent hope once stats were stable and told to make an appointment with GP.
It is really getting me down now and at the moment cannot see any light at the end of the tunnel.
Scoobs87, like you I am on my feet all day. It is hard going at times and when my colleague left last year my boss decided I can do the job on my own even though there is too much to do. I now do what I can and I don't try to get everything done. My attitude is if no one else cares why should I.
My boss doesn't have a clue about asthma, he's told me and others this, and I am sure he thinks I'm pulling a fast one. He doesn't like me much. He didn't even ask me how I was when I got back to work after 8 days off.
