I’ve accidentally taken Montelukast for the first time first thing this morning instead of evening as it says on box . Will this be ok ? Does anyone else Find taking it on a morning ok better than nighttime ? Is there a reason it has to be nighttime ?

I'm sure you will be fine, I imagine that the reason they tell you to do that is in case of any side effect and it better to have them at night. Not everyone gets side effects. I just felt withdrawn and uneasy on it. Thinking trying it again tho.

Montelukast works on leukotrienes and therefore is designed to be taken at night. Sleep disturbance/ abnormal dreams can occur with montelukast- I’ve experimented taking it in the day but found it best at night. Taking it in the morning will certainly cause no harm though

I take mine on a morning as I work nights so find it easier to take it then all the time no matter when I sleep ,my asthma nurse said it doesn’t matter when you take it as long as it’s consistent .Apparently it’s fast acting so you should notice a difference within a few weeks if not they should add spira as well .I take it along with my cetrizine and fostair 100 also take an anti depressant at the same time as it’s pretty safe to take with any other meds too

I was on montelukast but after a while it didn’t seem to have much effect. I took it at night (as that’s when my asthma was worse) however it can be prescribed for the morning in some asthmatics - typically ‘mild’ exercised induced asthmatics who are performance athletes and train a lot I think or in young children however there’s little evidence as to if timing actually matters. You should notice an improvement in 2 weeks, and depending on your side effects you could ask if you can change time. I got lucid/vivid dreams on them but they didn’t worry me so stuck to PM, someone I know got nightmares so changed to AM and was fine.
