Hello everyone I'm really new to this but have a quick question, I've had to reduce my PHYLLOCONTIN from 2 in the morning and 1 at night to just 1 tablet morning and 1at night because they were reaching toxic levels. Today is the first day and I've found that my chest is feeling tighter any of you lovely people had any experience with this kind of thing. Thanks for reading Elly

Yes...
On my end I’m either really good or really bad at absorbing theophylline (I’m on uniphyllin currently but have been on slo-phyllin and an aminophylline drip)
I’ve been toxic before (over 2x the upper level suggested when on the drip, and when new to theophylline) but have also stopped absorbing it before too (therefore I have relatively regular blood tests down to check levels as it took 3 attacks to identify a levels drop as the cause 🙄)
If you weren’t getting any side effects at the higher level and at the lower level you’re starting to trigger, see your GP and ask for another BT or if you can return to original dose. Some people are only theupeutic at the upper end of the range and others get toxic side effects at low to mid-range - everyone reacts and absorbs differently!
So long as you know what to look for as signs of toxicity I doubt there would be a problem (at least there wasn’t for me with my GP). Alternatively speak to your consultant/hosp asthma nurse if you have one and get their advice!
Hope that helps xxx
