Can anxiety cause you to wheeze?

I had a bad night last night. Think it may be caused by anxiety. My peak flow is down to 400 this morning. Its normally 420-430.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm putting it down to worrying Aaaargh i wish i would stop it. My peak flow is 440.

I'm not a very confident person and worry over silly things. I'm back to work on monday, i'm thinking about it in the back of my head. if i feel out of control over something i can't cope. I'll be glad to see my asthma nurse on friday!!

Sorry folks XX

hi julie

yes anxiety and stress can cause asthma symptoms to worsen, try and relax do something you enjoy if things dont improve go see your doctor.

Julie minor varience of PF is not uncommon, it is when there is a steady downward trend or sudden dips that you will need to seek further advice, I seem to recall that Maddie who is a what a call a normal asthmatic (as normal as she can be with a mother like me) has to seek further help if her PF drops below 50% of normal for her that is 240, its worth asking your Dr for some guidelines about at what point a drop in PF is something you should take notice of.

Bex

Bex is absolutely right; a drop of 20 on a peak flow of 420 is in no way uncommon.

Thanks for your replies!

I called one of the asthma nurses. I got the number off this site. BRILLIANT!!!

No way was i going to fight anxiety all day. After talking to her i felt so much better and stayed calm all day. I was shattered last night and had a really good nights sleep.

My attack last week has just scared me, but now i am feeling really positive about it. I have a chest x-ray 2pm today and i'm seeing my asthma nurse tomorrow 11.10am. I''m really looking forward to talking to my asthma nurse.

I do worry far to much! I lost alot of confidence after a really bad relationship, my partner now is just the best. All i need is a big boot up my bum from time to time :)

Thanks again
