Xolair Thoughts

Hi All,

I have started Xolair and am wondering do any of you guys have experiences in it. Good or bad? I was reading somewhere that it causes anaphylaxis. Curious to know did anybody here ever get this? It seems like a very worrying drug. Would welcome any feedback or comments

I’ve just started Xolair today. Anaphylaxis only really occurs in about 1% of patients (according to my asthma nurse today), but because of this you’re given epi-pens just in case. Like all drugs (trial or not) its very much a risk/benefit assessment hence the 16 week trial you start with. If your side effects are serious (anaphylaxis etc) or your improvements minimal you’re taken off the drug, however if your side effects are minimal (ie mild headache) and benefits massive then obviously you’ll stay on the drug 😅. Just be aware what you need to do worst case scenario and hope that it doesn’t happen!

If you’re worried speak to your consultant/asthma nurse etc as they’ll be able to properly go through everything with you and review any concerns you have.

Hope this helps

I have tried this. it works really well for around 80% of people and very few experience anaphylaxis. I haven’t had any side effects. It hasn’t worked for me but it has for many people and it’s worth a go.
