Hi I’m new on here. I started with asthma in February this year, had a really bad attack, was in bed for 4 days, put on steroids and inhalers. Started with a cold last week and it’s flared my asthma back up so back on steroids again and in bed. It seems to be getting better slowly but I’m worse first thing on a morning, any advice please x

First advice be kind to yourself and take one day at a time. You will get there and you will get better. I know I just been on prednisolone for 3 weeks. ( please don't panic I had a particular bad one so I needed it).

Asthma can be bad first thing in the morning because of the way your body works. Our peak flow will be worse in the morning as its anti inflammatory is lower over night.

I was told that my peak flow will be at its best at 5 pm and worse at 5 am.

Lastly I glad you are getting better slower. Take care and chill-ax

I understand I know someone close to me who has social anxiety disorder. I hope our post will help ease your anxiety. I think the more you understand your condition and know what to do the less anxious you will feel. Forewarned is forearmed as my mum says.

Hi Closey66

I’m just coming through my second exacerbation this winter , with a couple more days to go on prednisolone, hopefully. It’s been a long job. I find I’m a better in the mornings if I sleep (if I can sleep) propped up on lots of pillows, including a V pillow. I’m hopeless sleeping or in the morning without. This carries on for two o three weeks once more or less better, then reduce to two/three pillows - quite comfy. Hope this might help.
