Hi all! I’m Jayne and I’m 34. I hope you are all ok?

I had a bad chest infection back in July and since then have been tight chested, breathless and wheezy. I put it down to the infection taking a long time to clear up until yesterday morning when I had an asthma attack and ended up being diagnosed with asthma ( I had it as a child but didn’t realise it could return! Not the best surprise I’ve ever had to be honest :/) and I’ve been out on clenil inhaler, salamol inhaler and 8 presnisolone ( think that’s how it’s spelt) tablets a day for a week. I’m on day 2 and I’m starting to feel a bit better although I’ve slept all day today after feeling too nauseous to sleep last night not sure if it was the steroids or from the attack in the morning but no sickness tonight I just can’t sleep 🙈

This looks like a lovely little community and I look forward to getting to know some of you a bit better :)

Sorry for the long post just wanted to say “Hi” xx

Hi from one of the all doing the up at night on prednisolone day 6.

Funny I am on same dose of this medication and recovering from a flare up.

I know that prednisolone can be hard to take as it does have side effects but guaranteed the best short term thin to have.

I am not an asthma suffer from childhood but a late onset suffer 12 years ago. It is know asthma can return in adulthood and come back because of an event like yours I.e chest infection.

This is a great community here and all very friendly. We are only fellow suffers not medical experts so take what we say with a pinch of salt.

Saying all that Welcome :-)

I know how you guys are feeling with the lack of sleep. I have been on a reasonably high dose of prednisolone for 18 months. Between 20mg and 40mg mostly at the top end. I don’t feel like I have slept properly in those 18 months at all. Trying to taper down on them but struggle with my asthma when I do. Hey ho. Fingers crossed I can ditch them one day. Hope your all feeling a little better. Xxx

Hi Jenrizzle18 and Jaynieb83

Thanks for the support what you have say really helps. I too have the school run and getting up early every morning at 6 am to get one of my children out of bed for getting bus to secondary school for 7 am is hard work when you had not much sleep. Then I have to get another one up and take them in the car. All on lack of sleep zzz I been taking to my bed every afternoon for a nap so I can cope.

I know this time will be over soon and I been able to ditch the prednisolone today. I hope and pray that you Jenrizzle are able to get down your dose too. Have a good day. God bless :-)

I outgrew childhood asthma, but after a very severe double pneumonia and sepsis I have been diagnosed with Asthma again. I didn’t believe the dr at first and thought it was still from the pneumonia. But the clenil inhaler has made a huge. difference.
