also i should add my peak flow readings are 250, is that significantly low?
The blue inhaler should help relieve your symptoms straight away. We're you dizzy before you took the inhaler?
250 is pretty low for most people. The blue inhaler is not meant to be used regularly over a prolongedly period.
If you feel short of breath the blue inhaler should give you some immediate relief and last for a few hours (technique is crucial when using inhalers) .
If you use the blue inhaler too much it becomes less effective and potentially counter productive. If you have asthma symptoms over a prolonged period you should be using a preventative inhaler like Beclometasone which is taken regularly.
You need to visit your doctors again and explain the inhaler isnt working.
The dizziness could be many things, you may have a cold or inner ear infection or it may be unconnected. as Ella95 says are you dizzy before you take the inhaler? As it may be low oxygen levels.
Thank you both for your replies 😊 the dizziness has been almost constant but I do have bad shoulders and neck at the moment and realised it could be that, my breathing has improved since writing this post so I'm not sure if the inhaler is helping, it's all very confusing as I know nothing about asthma and Inhalers, my gp said she could hear the odd wheeze when listening to my chest and gave me then inhaler to use incase it was asthma and to see if it helped over the next 2 to 4 weeks. My peak flower does improve after taking the inhaler to around 350 is that indicative of asthma? Thanks again to you both for taking time to read my post and reply 😊
Hi sherylee86
It sounds like your GP has given you a trial to see whether the inhalers work. There's more information on diagsnosing asthma here: bit.ly/2qfBfGf
Sorry to hear you're feeling dizzy, I had a quick chat with one of our specialist nurses Kath who suggested you give our Asthma UK helpline a call as they can talk you through possible diagnosis, check you're using your inhaler correctly and answer any questions you have. Dizziness could be because you feel short of breath and so are breathing short shallow breaths, resulting in dizziness. They can be reached on 0300 222 5800 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Take care,
Dita
