I have been running for a few weeks now. I take salbutamol before I run.
However, about 5 minutes after I stop I get a tight chest, no wheeze just a cough.
Any ideas how to stop this?

Hi there, I often get tight and cough after exercise. The way forward is another couple of puffs of Salbutamol when you stop. Which is what I do. I actually asked my consultant about this last week, and he said it was fine, just to keep a note of how much I was using as he wants to know. He said better to keep exercising if I can. However of course everyone's situation is different so if you are at all concerned ask your doctor or Asthma Nurse next time you see them.

Does your chest ache afterwards aswell? I have been having similar isssues myself which have progressively got worse over the past few months.
No I can't say it does, for me it feels like Asthma always does, a tight band around my chest, and struggling to breath out, + coughing.
I would get it checked out, as everyone is different, and as things have been getting worse for you, you may need to change things up.
This sounds strange. Have you ever done a heart stress test on a treadmill while heart response is monitored? Would be a good idea to know what the result of that is. Talk to your doctor and request a stress test.
Had ecg and echo.... all fine. Never had stress test though. Its only after exercise and like the intercostal muscles have all worked harder than they should have. Got to wait until middle of June to see gp so will have a chat then.
Its different for everyone but i have much similar conditions like someone tightly holding my chest. I hope GP will help you out
