Hospital vs GP Spirometry

Hi all, hope you are doing ok. I wondered if anyone can tell me the difference between Spirometry performed at the hospital and that undertaken at GPs. Had one at hospital today which was completely different or so it appeared. Wasn't given salbutamol, so curious as to difference/rationale. Many thanks

Both are same just different machines. Sounds like you had reversibility testing to see if Salbutamol made a difference

Thank you, suppose I should have asked at hospital but appreciate your response.

I was only given salbutamol at my first hospital spirometry to check for reversibility, but on the subsequent two occasions I wasn't. I think the first one was more detailed to see whether I had only fixed small airways disease or some late onset asthma. Once they have established a baseline, I guess they just check for progress.

Thanks for reply, they are still trying to diagnose me. On a positive note the consultant was fantastic listened to me explained everything in detail and even took me to the waiting area for the test.

I think the hospital one always seems more in depth

That's a bummer, are you on the liquid diet to lose weight or is it because of the up and coming op? Hopefully you will start to lose weight again soon good luck x

It can be quite disheartening when that happens, but keep your chin up girl you are doing well. Got a bit of junk in my own trunk I could do with losing 🍷 Be good if this contributed to a liquid diet
