What medication are you taking?
Normally I would take my blue Inhaler and if after a few goes it didn't go away and stay away.... visit to the doctors/a and e.
Have you had a review by a doctor or nurse at your Practice who looks after asthma patients? You could also call the asthma U.K. Helpline and speak to one of their nurses.
I'm in a similar position, having recently been diagnosed with late onset asthma (and some fixed airway obstruction). I have been prescribed the blue inhaler to use whenever needed, plus a corticosteroid preventer. OK with the blue inhaler, but can't seem to find a preventer without significant side effects. However, I suspect the latter is very dependent on the individual, so what might work with one might not with another. Worth getting a medical opinion on what sort of preventer might work in your case, and certainly try a few others if you get unpleasant side effects.
An aromatherapy expert advised me to massage each side of the sternum bone in the centre of the chest quite vigorously for as long as you can bear at around the area of the 5th rib down. It feels tender, which indicates the blockage It is possible to count them & also massage the entire sternum itself it may be a little tender, but the relief is well worth it because it seems to release something& the tightness fades. Also gentle exercise is good. Best wishes Clara
