Hi,
Does anyone else get tired and headachey on Montelukast? I started on 10mg/day, one tablet at night, three days ago. It's helping my breathing, but I find I'm really tired and headachey by around lunch time the following day.
cheers!

Hi. I've been on it for 16 years and I've never had a problem with it. My grandson takes it as well , he takes it in the morning because it gave him nightmares.
It makes me a bit drowsy but nothing much worse. If you're having really bad effects I'd mention it to the GP to check out if it is the montelukast or something else.
I've been on it for over 10 years now. It took about 3 to 4 weeks before it made any difference to my breathing when I first started it, but I've never been aware of any other side effects. I agree with Minushabens, that if you're having problems you should go back to your doctor, as it could be something else causing the trouble.
I hope you get it sorted out and feel better soon. Jan
I've taken it for years too with only dreams being my problem. I agree speak to prescriber or pharmacist
Yes I used to enjoy the affect when I was on the graunallls . This was to get round a colouring problem. But they made the chew kids sort and granual stopped being made. So I was moved back on to Accolate but I find this can do opposite and make mevmore awake so have to get timing right for this also have to have an hr before food so that's a bum were singlar don't matter about food 😢
I get sleepy and headachy, but I am still trying to track down what is causing it. I never thought of Montelukast. Maybe that is one of the contributing factors. Hmmm.
I take it at midday and stops nightmares with no sleepiness next day. Controls my allergic asthma well.
Instructions do say take at night but my GP said timing is not critical so long as roughly 24 hours apart.
