Hi ....... Normally takes 3-5days for me to start feeling the affects of prednisone 40 mg daily !! As for montelucast I took it for 12 months with little or no benefit, have now stopped taken it

For me the first time I tried montelukast for 2 weeks, it didn't work and was stopped. Later I tried it for a month and it really improved my symptoms. I've been on it for about 6 months now.

I am on my 4 th day of current course of steroids and I'm about to start increasing my inhaled steroids ready for stopping the tablets. I also have a second course of tablets ready for if my symptoms haven't settled.

Hope that you feel better soon 😊

Hi Lyn Montelukast I felt the benefits straight away but got insomnia so I stopped. Pred takes 3 days I think for me to get a benefit and then again don't stop until your chest is clear.

Prednisolone *40mg daily) I find they kick in after 2-3 days. I also notice the effect drops off about a week after stopping a course. Montelukast I have taken for about 20 years now. To be honest I feel no effect at all, 1 tablet per night. but the doctor says I have to take them to help night time symptoms. although I tend to stop taking them for weeks at a time with no ill effects showing.

Well, people here seem to say something about a3-4-10 days... for me it was nearly a month on Montelukast and corticosteroids to actually feel any difference. To add to that, in those 20-something days I got an awful lot of side effects and I felt terrible most of the time (far worse than before taking them) but then at the end of the first month everything started getting better.
