Hi all. I finally seen consultant after a long wait whose changed my inhaler to fostair which so far im not liking but giving it while longer. Hes sending me for tests to teat for cough variant asthma and a type of bronchitis that could be causing this continous cough so im just wondering if anyone knows what these tests are and what they are like

Hi there

New on the posts I am unable to answer your question but just thought I would mention about fostair which I take myself I have only been on one other before fostair so I don't know if it is the case for most inhalers but I found it gave me quite bad mouth sores even though I drank water rinsed after taking it so I used a mouthwash each time after which prevented them but gave me a good telling off by dentist 😳 so now I just brush my teeth guess that gives it a good rinsing out ! You probs know this already and it may not be the same for everyone just though maybe worth a mention good luck with your tests .

Thanks. I have been on a few types over the years but this first time on fostair so far my asthma has got worse but only been on it 4 days so giving it longer if not il be back on seretide until my next appointment. Thanks for reply il keep eye out for them i tend to get a lot of mouth sores

Hello there

I was on the fostair mart programme for a couple of years. I ended up by taking quite a bit, you could take up to 4x2 puffs a day if you were breathless and used it as reliever as well as a preventer.

But I had more chest infections all of a sudden and was on the maximum dosage all the time.

I went back to the Consultant who changed back to reliever and chose Seretide 250mg as a preventer. I immediately felt the difference and improved for about 3 months.

Now I wonder if you get used to these treatments because I seem to get stronger meds and more chest infections than I used to.

My consultant said asthma control is all about the treatment that works for you. Well I'll keep that in mind. Hope this answers some of your questions.
