Search for inhaler

I have had asthma for about 25 years and every year for the last 3 years or so my asthma has been getting worse. I have been to see asthma nurse every 6 weeks through out the year and am on my third new inhaler this year. Has anyone else had problems with side effects and finding an inhaler that suits them?

Yes, I'm allergic to some and just don't respond to others. At this point you need to see your gp and ask for a referral to a respiratory specialist. I don't know how long that'll take, but when you're referred you'll have proper lung function tests, spirometry, allergy tests etc and the specialist will help work out why it's worsening and what you should do about it. Good luck.

Hi I feel the same as you I have had asthma for 45 years and only recently I can't control it .I have been on ventolin evohaler by Allen and handbury all my life but now they have been took over by gks and the inhalers don't have the same effect on me its just a cheaper version . its hard to explain to the doctor he says the ventolins are all the same but I had it under control with the Allen and handbury inhaler. And now all the chemist only have gsk inhalers in stock ,

Dear Lindmat,

a good natural inhaler goes like this.

Take a look at the video youtube.com/watch?v=PiSq-Wn... by Mr. M.R. Gach PhD and then train a stiff upper lip in the literal sense. This gives just the same effect . You need to make it a habit it to nip any unhealthy shortage of breath in the bud. I just spent an evening with 4 cats without any effect on me. Discuss this with a doctor if you are interested.

All the best, R. Friedel

Dear Lindmat,

sad to say the system cut off my comment after the video. Should read. Pressing on the point between the upper lip and the nose facilitates and inhale naturally. Stiffening the upper lip has the same effect, so train it until you automatically nip any unnatural shortage of breath in the bud. Ask a doctor about this if you are interested. All the best. R. Many years ago I did and like you went through a number of them in a short space of time. Last time I changed about 10 years ago when I had my steroid inhaler split as the Doc thought I would be better off. Then 5 years ago when I was diagnosed with Bronchiectasis. They suggested I take on,y half of the dose of the stronger steroid inhaler and look to go back on a combined inhale. My GP never did this and now again have been told by the consultant at National Aspergillosis Centre we should go back to a combined inhaler. But finishing all the old ones up first taking half the dosage. Shame to waste the.

That's what I thought until I found a Allen and handbury inhaler at the back of my medicine cupboard .I stopped taking the gsk and started on the Allen and hand bury inhaler after 2 days I was back on track I thought it was my imagination so I tried the gsk on 3 seperate occasions every time the gsk one didn't help me . there is no more Allen and handburys inhalers so I will have to take a trip the doctors as the gks inhalers do nothing for me.

It is know that a medication for asthma which has worked can stop working. So it is advisable to get your medication re-assessed.
