Hi there, I've been brittle asthmatic since childhood, 5 x 3 month life threatening ICU & many more hospital admissions, there's nothing I haven't tried, my asthma is mainly driven by my Esinophill levels which it seems can only be suppressed for now by steroids "Kenalog" my consultant reluctantly started me on these jabs a year ago as a intermittent resolve to my symptoms as there's a new none steroidal drug in the pipe line hopefully available sometime next year,
Anyhow I'm rambling your asthma may be caused by very different things to mine but I've found that "Kenalog" has changed my life albeit for the short term, I've not felt this well & able to do almost anything I want like plan for the days ahead, go the gym, sleep through, for as long as I can remember, which seems forever (45 now), they're not without they're side effects as you know, I've gained a stone, my face has rounded not too much but I never had this with taking oral steroids for many yrs, bruising as with steroids, I seem to of got far more cellulite on my thighs & after looking into it, that's caused by the "muscle wasting" but as I'm now able to exercise I'm hoping this will help, so it seems "Kenalog" like everything else is a trade off, but for me personally, I'm not looking forward to stopping it, I hardly use my ventiolin Inhalers, they've taken away my home oxygen/nebs, I can actually say for the first time in a lifetime I feel "Normal", obviously different people have differing degrees of side effects with any drug but for me the pros far outweigh the cons, for now!...good luck & be well x
Hi there,
My daughter who's 16 started Kenalog injections in May. She's had a few side effects, a bit of blurred vision, concentration issues, bruising and mainly sickness to the point where she's lost weight rather than gaining it!!!! But she feels that these are minor compared to how she felt without it. It has really helped to control her asthma and she feels so much better on it. Just remember drugs affect everybody differently and so you may not get even these side effects.
Good luck and I hope it helps x
