Worth a try?

Hi everyone

I have been asthmatic since my mid 30's probably caused by a bout of pneumonia when I was 35. I was on a blue inhaler for a few years after pneumonia until I needed a brown inhaler. I have been using my inhalers for nearly 20 years. (I am now 54).

About five years ago my asthma was really bad. I went from suffering mild asthma, using my brown inhaler two puffs morning and then again at night and my blue inhaler a few times a week to needing the blue inhaler multiple times every day and using more and more puffs of my brown inhaler (budesonide pulmicort) sometimes up to 12 puffs a day. The limit for the brown inhaler is 16 puffs per day, so you can see things were getting out of control. My triggers are bleach, strong perfumes, dust, cold air etc. The worst times for me had been the winter months but I started to suffer all year round. Night times were horrific as my chest would be so tight I could not lie down.

This went on for over two years. Until one day my husband was doing some research on my condition and came across some research trials using mushrooms to control asthma. There had been some positive results. Apparently they are really good at reducing the inflammation in the airways.

I use Nature's Plus vitamin D3 veggie caps.

They have made a massive improvement to my asthma and therefore my life! I was very quickly back down to two puffs of my brown inhaler morning and night and I very rarely need my blue inhaler. This has continued throughout the two+ years I have been using the supplements. I very rarely have tightness in my chest now. My blue inhalers actually go out of date with very little use now.

I MIGHT ADD THAT BY NO WAY IS THIS A CURE. YOU MUST NEVER STOP TAKING YOUR BROWN INHALER IF YOU USE ONE. ASTHMA IS A LIFE LONG DISEASE AND THIS FOR ME, HAS BEEN A WAY OF GETTING THINGS BACK UNDER CONTROL. IF YOU ARE PRESCRIBED ASTHMA DRUGS YOU MUST ALWAYS TAKE THEM EVEN IF YOU FEEL WELL.

Just thought I would pass on what I feel has worked for me. It's worth a try in my opinion!

I have a vitamin D3 every day because when you get older you lack vit D. Do you eat mushrooms every day? Do you cook them with your meals or eat them raw? I have never heard of this but anything is worth a try x

Hi karjade

I do eat mushrooms but not every day and I only eat the 'normal' ones not the ones with the fancy names - I don't think I could stomach those ones! The vitamin D3 I use is a blend of lots of different types of mushroom. It's much easier for me to use supplements. You won't get the benefit for asthma from normal D3 pills, it has to be the ones using mushroom extracts.

Take care

Where do you get your Vitamin D3 from? I did not realise you could get these containing mushroom extract. I got my D3 from Amazon and they are high strength ones xx

Hi

I get it from Amazon. If you type into search - Nature's Plus, Source of Life, Garden, Vitamin D3, 60 Veggie Caps it will come up. It is £10.40 for 60 and I think it is worth every penny. I take one about three times a week.
