So I have had an exercise induced wheeze for years, always taken salbutamol inhaler. For months possibly years my mum and stepmum have been on about my nighttime cough. This summer it has suddenly got worst so I finally went to the asthma nurse, my peak flows are normally about 50% of my best in the morning and recover by the evening. I work for the ambulance service and recently my colleagues have been forcing me to have a nebuliser as they have been concerned about my coughing/breathing.
So the asthma nurse has prescribed brown inhaler (clinel- beclomethasone) but a really low dose, I have improved a little bit but still have a cough constantly, she said it would be a month before I would see full results, well it's been 3 weeks and my peak flow is still between 50-70% of my best. My work colleagues keep on at me about going back to the doctors
Do I:
A) up the dose of my inhaler myself and see if this makes a difference
B) book an emergency appointment with GP (myGP takes 3 weeks to give you a normal appointment)
C) stay at the current dose and see how this goes.
Any advice would be great!
P.s. Has anyone else noticed that there breathing has got a lot worst in this heat?? Or with ice creams (I love icecream but it makes me cough so much!)
