New Combination Inhaler

My wonderful Asthma Nurse (though she's not actually one), but she's the one I've seen the most for my reviews.

She's just put me on Fluticasone 250mcg/Formoterol10mcg inhaler to see if this one makes any difference. Though she notices that my PF dips during the late part of the week, and can really jump up at the weekends. Though the highest it's been is 360.

So finger's crossed that this inhaler makes a difference, as I'm getting slightly fed up of needing my reliever when I go for a short walk.

I would have liked to try thid but my cons said at this stage a little change like that wouldnt make a difference for me. On paper I think it looks a good combination - a stronger steroid with a fast acting, long lasting reliever. I hope it helps you gain better control.

Is this flixotide and oxis combined? I get on well with both of these but don't get on with the tyrbohaler that oxis comes in. The laba in seretide gives me cramps but unfortunately I just have to put up with it.

I get far worse cramps on formoterol than salmeterol but its worth it for better control. Im actually on quinine for cramps which helps a bit.

UPDATE:

This is my 1st day on it, and so far I haven't reached for my reliever inhaler yet And I walked to the local newsagent

It's not a turbo inhaler, it's a regular one just a tad shorter (though comes foil wrapped and a much too large box), as I have to use it with my spacer, it also has a dose indicator, which should help me decide when to put a repeat prescription in, as I usually overshot this and have two days of no preventer.

Can't tell if it's made any difference to my PF yet, but that will come. The downside is that I got shakes with the 1st use, so I'm hoping I'll get used to it soon. So I may have to take slightly earlier at night, just so I'm not dealing with the shakes, when I'm trying to go to sleep.

I think the nurse only put me on it, as I was reaching for the reliever either just before taking my preventer or within an hour of taking it, plus it was either this or a stronger clenil inhaler

I've been on this inhaler (Flutiform) for a several months now, having tried a separate powdered Formoterol inhaler in addition to my old Flixotide and finding the powder sticking to my throat and making my voice loss worse.

For me, it's been marvellous and so far (touch wood!) it's proved very effective. I'd tried Serevent in the past and it made me tachycardic so it was stopped. This once does make my heart beat faster, but not as severely and for me the benefits outweigh that side effect.

So far (touch wood) the shakes are the only side-effects, I'm getting, but I'm managing to get round them, by assisting my mother taking the dogs for a walk (atleast in the morning) the gentle exercise does seem to work the shakes out.

Plus my PF hasn't dropped too low, like it seems to by the end of the week. (not sure if that's luck or anything), it has stayed above the 340 mark, which for me is good. As by the end of the week 310 is usually my highest.
