Just after a bit of advice/reassurance. My dd is 10 almost 11 and is currently waiting to recieve xolair for her asthma.
Her list of daily medication is monstrous but needed...her consultants and professors have tried almost every different type of inhalers/tablet combo and while she'll stay stable for a while it never really lasts long. I was told at my first apt with the prof (over 2 years ago)what his suggested route of action would be..the injections being the last resort, we are now here
Can people please give me their experiences of this on children.. I am only aware of one other child in my home town on this and z child is older and whilst ive asked for my details to be passed on to the parents ive not heard nothing.
I'm sorry I won't be much use, i just didn't want to read the post and leave no comment. I have no experiences of children on xolair but have found myself being put onto it pretty quickly after a bad few months. It seemed like such a drastic step to take for myself, I read everything I could find about it to try and decide what to do. I am a critical care nurse and most of the consultants I work with had never even heard of it. It was a scary thought, and starting it wasn't an easy choice, but my other option was to carry on the way I have been this year and possibly just get worse. I can't imagine how a 10 year old would be feeling, or how you feel, but if there's no alternative at present then it's worth a go? I hope you get some more help or advice, sorry I'm not much use and good luck to you both!
