sick bugs!

ok, im more curious as to advice others have been given as this is obvs one to discuss with my gp, but does anyone have specific instructions for their asthma medication when vomiting? i assume ti cant be the end of the world either way as id have been told, my endo cons spent a LOT of time about how to take my pills, and when to inject, but then its much easier with steroids as you cant OD, i could take two tablets AND inject and it not cause an issue, but throwing up two tablets and NOT injecting could cause major issues! i feel all gross today as ive been injecting since i woke up at 6, and so not had my antihistamines which makes me feel so itchy - i hate it. just given myself some IM cyclizine (and by given myself - my flatmate pushed the plunger - its like trying to inject acid - i cant do it!!) so hoping i'll be able to keep bedtime antihistamines down - otherwise im going to become VERY grumpy very fast.

so frustrating that i cant even be ill like a normal person!!! spent most of my day trying to track down injectible HC and avoid getting admitted! fortunately ive had my evening dose (2hrs late which made me feel pretty horrendous) and i have a spare for the morning, so that will buy me 6hrs to track down some more!!

but yeah - what do people do with vomiting bugs when they dont wanna be admitted??

Oh soph - how nasty!

It sounds like you are handling things amazingly well - it can't be any fun tracking down drugs with a stomach virus, allergies, and a cortisol level running amok at all the same time!

Haven't any suggestions, but do hope your stomach simmers down soon and/or you can quickly track down the drugs you need so you can stay home.

Have had my moments of handling, I'm not gonna lie, before my second injection kicked in I sobbed and slobbered all over the poor nurse who had to change a dressing on my leg! Fortunately she's a bit of a legend and took it in her stride managed it to kill or even swear at the doc who was blaming me for having a hard time getting hold of steroids!!! Hardly how I wanted to spend my day, just wanted my bed and my mum, or failing that for a quick death! (Apparently sense of impending doom is common during crisis, a sort of 'I feel so much like I'm dying that I just want to die NOW' kind of thing) have also given myself two jabs, and had IM cyclizine, so I'm doing ok in the grand scheme of things!

Laura, I promise I'm being sensible, 6hrly IM is basically all they'd do in hospital, apart from maybe fluids, but managed to keep some liquids down this eve (and some pills, no uniphylinne tho) so hopefully that's not an issue! I'm seeing more medical people than I'd

Ike to to keep an eye on me, really want to ride this one out in my own bed!

Soph, you know what I will advise you to do so not even going to tell you!!

What I will say though, is stay safe and hope things quieten down soon! Sickness bugs are foul. You know I've been admitted pretty promptly during/after and I don't have the adrenal stuff to deal with as well. BUT assuming one of the asthma meds you're talking about is uniphylline - the only time I have had aminophylline has been when I've not had uniphylline due to sickness and becoming sub therapeutic.

I think the emotions are completely expected! The amazing thing is that you pushed through both the emotions and a less than (emotionally) helpful doctor to get what you wanted accomplished. Good going!

But still (((hugs))) for all the emotional ups and downs. Sounds like a very difficult day.

When I had a sick bug, I was given some tablets that dissolve between your lip and your gum and absorb through the gum, you don't need to swallow anything and they help to quell the sickness and allowed me to take tablets including prednisolone and uniphyline, I was told that if you keep the tablets down for more than an hour you will have started to absorb them. I always feel awful with sick bugs and find my asthma is off balance afterwards, luckily I have never been admitted due to sick bug, but it has been a close call on 1 or 2 occasions. On one very serious occasion I was given anti sickness meds that were given in a very uncomfortable way but they worked brilliantly...
