Why is there age restrictions (18-25) for the befriending groups? I am miffed about this not to mention feeling alienated by an organisation that should know better! If there is a good reason for this then fair enough, but why are there no befriending groups for people of my agegroup(50)?
Can someone from asthmauk answer this q. for me please.I would like asthmauk to organise befriending groups for older age groups, please post support.
UPDATE.I have just put these concerns to asthmauk via the feedback form which can be found on the 'contact' page on the homescreen. If anyone else feels as strongly as i do about this age apartheid please use the feedback form to let asthma uk know and ask them to set up a befriending group system for older people.thanks.

I understand where you're coming from, as I'm 30yrs. After all as I'm aware any age can develop asthma
Have you thought about setting one up yourself? Post on here/asthmauk FB, If I was nearer I would attend. Sadly I'm in Essex.

Asthma UK has a facebook page, which people chat on, though granted I haven't posted there at the moment.
Basically write a post regarding meeting up with people in a certain area. And if people are interested then you can take that further, and actually arrange a time & place. Maybe if you take the first step, and it proves successful, then maybe Asthma UK will be able to support you.
In fairness I'm only holding off, until I have a definate diagnosis, as I'm waiting to see the asthma nurse for further tests. But considering the inhaler is actually making a huge difference.
that is terrible, I don`t understand why they would put an age restriction
I am 72 and live near Manchester

Hi joan, thankyou.please read my original post as i have added an update.
i'd really like to meet others with asthma and the age restriction excludes me too, so i'd be in full support of these groups being expanded. it's really nice to have that mutual support which i get on here, but it'd be great to get that face to face.
I have several asthmatic friends, but none of them have the difficulties that i have with mine, even though i'm not severe. so it'd be great to meet up with people who understand a little more than they do.
