I am really getting in to my running at the moment but need to take my inhaler with me as I need a 'puff' on it about a mile in to my run.
Not sure if this is a silly question but does anyone know of a sport friendly inhaler? What I mean by this is maybe a more slimline one that is less bulkey to carry in the back pocket of my running pants.
I currently use a Ivax Salamol Reliver which is one of the L shaped inhalers.
I know this isn't a burning issue but I am trying to get fit and not let my asthma get in the way and would love to be able to carry an inhaler that is designed to deliver the correct dosage but be a little less conspicuous.
I don't think there are any sport specifically designed inhalers around.... I stand to be corrected if I am wrong... I think there may be several different ways of securing inhalers to your body easily depending on the type of sport you do. I expect the runners among us on the asthma UK forum will be able to point you in the right direction.
Hi, i run and play sport too and i find (this will only apply if you were a bra) that my L shaped inhaler fits really well in my sports bra!
my friends on the team also have a good idear, they were a ipod arm band and put there inhaler in that or some have adapted the arm band so they can put an inhaler onto it and have an ipod in the armband. they ajust the arm band by putting the inhaler in upside down inbetween two peices of elastic (just add an extra one on but make shure its realy tigh!)
Lots of nice colours, have safe lanyard but can also be clipped on to a belt etc!

I use an ipod holder that fits around my arm and has an extra zip up section on the front which the inhaler fits in and house keys, the ipod goes in the second zip up section. Amanda
if i'm wearing my jacket i just put the inhaler in my pocket, if not i have a waist pack - like a bum bag but specifically designed for running and sits flat against your body, you get a bit sweaty round the middle LOL but i like it. I can also fit tissues & car keys in as well (and my phone if i use the bigger one of the 2 i've got)
its an Australian site but you can buy them on eBay. You take the canister out of your Ventolin inhaler and slot it in this one, you can get accessories like arm bands etc to go with them.
I saw someone at the gym with a tiny little ventolin inhaler, just last week. Looked like a great size - about 1/2 that of a standard one. Anyone seen these? If not, am seeing the asthma nurse this week so will try to remember to ask her.

You could ask the GP to give you a little one just for while you're exercising, and use a standard size one the rest of the time? I do this with creams now and then, no need to haul a 500ml cream to the gym with me - just get a smaller size one now and then.
Hey, I have sportshalers - they're great for things like running, and use mine more for rugby as they keep mud ect out as they're a sealed unit, you can purchase them online and fit your normal canister into them.
