I have a tens machine and a beddy bear for the microwave ( well its a bright yellow duck ) but also need morphine, am sat in costa bed at mo with a duck peering out my side!!! all i can say in regular analgesia, can you tke paracetamol or codiene? take 2 paracetamol and then codiene or brufen in between so only going 2hrs between, constant heat and pressure, if u need to move or cough wrap a blanket around you and pull it when you cough.
Hope helps, sympathise as ssat here with broken rib through coughing!!
dont suffer if it doesny ease go see gp

Afraid this isn't a nice, easy, pop down the chemist type solution (no good if you can't have alcohol for any reason eitther) but if you know anyone who's going over to any of the Baltic countries then ask then to bring you back some Riga Balsam. It's a conncotion of various herbs & plants, originally developed by some monks as a tonic, now just sold as a spirit. I had some in a try anything moment & the pain (I'd describe mine as bottom of the lungs, thinking probably the same thing?) had gone completely within 10 minutes. I passed some on to my mum & she found the same. I have about a shot's worth, knocked straight back as it's a bit of an ""aquired"" taste!
Guess it's not going to work on the broken rib level of pain though, OW! much symapathy!
Hi everyone. Thanks for the info.
Andrea poor you! Hope you are feeling a bit better or at least the pain relief is working for you. Bless - didn't know you could break a bone by coughing - thats gotta be some cough!
I resorted to 3 hot water bottles last night - one on each side & one on my back. Slept on my belly in the end but woke up a lot coughing. Will try the blanket tip tonight. Been to the doctors today - been given cocodamol for the aches & prednisolone for 5 days (only 2nd time I've had it - last time was after an attack). Dont really know why I've been given it again but am told it should get things back under control. Any ideas?
Thanks for the tip re the balm too - I'll keep my ears tuned for peeps I know going over that way - sounds like a great plonk! Maybe the NHS should buy a shipment for us all. Sounds like the same kind of pain - its really the bottom of my ribs that hurt the most - pain killers are easing it now though.
Look after yourselves.
