I'm in the same boat at the moment, I've been on preds for over 2weeks after a bad attack and can't sleep at all think 5hrs was the best I had the other day. I've been given the advice on here and by docs that taking preds early on a morning with a bit to eat is the best to prevent you having a sleepless night. I must say it does help a little but I'm usually a bad sleeper anyway.
Might be worth a try?
Horlicks, cuppa, a relaxing night-time routine(I love reading), anything that relaxes you is worth a try.
I use to get angry with myself when I couldn't sleep and I knew I had to get up early for work but now I think ""sod it"" have a hot drink, read something and try sleeping again.
The more relaxed you are the easier it will be.
Hope this helps a little?
I bet there's loads of other like us but I know how frustrating it all can be.
Take care, sleep well.
Love Lydia x
hiya thanks for the reply so quickly
think im beyond fed up now!
i followed advice about taking steroids in the morning from my GP as i was just taking them whenever i actually woke up - if i was up all night some days it could be afternoons so i now set my alarm (but dont no if im making the lack of sleep situation worse!).
im also a bit of a freak (so my mum says) i cant drink hot drinks as they all give me the shakes whether they contain caffeine or not lol!
think i might make a trip to town tomorrow and invest in a good book maybe that could help
thanks so much for your advice i really appreciate it
take care xxx
No probs. As you can see I'm still up, too lol.
If you like reading, have you read the twilight saga? The films are good but the booksbeven better
there's 4 books of them
Some people like listening to quite music(not for me though).
Try getting into a routine. Don't wanna sound like your mam but going to bed and getting up at roughly the same time daily helps a lot!
Your body clock might take a few weeks to adjust but it works.
Watching tv is probably the worst to do just you go to bed as it keeps your mind active.
Let me know how you're getting on, and keep relaxed: you can't but try!
Xxx
Raychi, you may find listening to a book easier at night because you can do it with your eyes closed and perhaps you might drift off to sleep more easily when your mind is occupied by the story.
You can download them from iTunes/Audible if you have an iPod to load them onto or 'rent' CD audiobooks from your library (much cheaper) if you don't want to buy.
