Sleep?

Hopefully not too personal a question 😉 but how do you all sleep? I really struggle at night. Do you prop up with lots of pillows? Use an air purifier? Wrap bed in anti-allergy sheets? Has anyone found anything that actually helps?

I have 3 pillows in a pile (an allergy pillow on top) and if I don’t have these I can’t sleep as I don’t like my face to feel squished 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

I have a slope pillow for when I’m bad, and also have an air purifier.

However it it’s your asthma waking you up/stopping you from sleeping you should return to your GP/AN and let them know and not sleeping due to asthma is a sign that your asthma is not controlled.

Hope that helps

Hey, I sleep propped up on 4 pillows forming a slope and if I slide down in the night (especially on my back) then I’ll be woken up by a tight chest. I also have anti-allergy bedding and an air purifier (but I’m not terribly sure it’s doing much for me 😆).

Dust mites are a big problem for me and I’ve just started Xolair so I’m hoping that will settle things again and I can go back to my usual 2 pillows and sleeping through!

When my asthma is bad I can't sleep at all--I empathize!

To keep our room as allergen-free as possible, we run an air purifier in the corner 24/7, put the pillows and mattress inside anti-allergy covers, wash our sheets once a week (and pillows every other month or so). I also try to keep as little stuff in the bedroom as possible--no books on the nightstand, nothing that can gather dust. I take an anti-histamine before bed, too.

Interesting thanks. I don’t have an air purifier but have been wondering if it would help me. I’ve been back to doctor and getting further help with new drugs etc. but I’m happy to try anything else that could help too :) try anything really 😂 Which air purifiers do people have? Some of them are very pricey! We live in an old house with high ceilings so I’m guessing would need something reasonably powerful? I’ve also been trying to wash everything more, keep dust to minimum, open windows, keep bathroom mould free etc. I have anti-allergy bedding, but anti-allergy covers I could wash easily might be a good shout. Maybe I’ll wash the pillows that’s a good idea.

I’ve changed to more natural cleaning products which I think has helped. Also switched from spray deodorant to stick which definitely has helped. Just wish I could persuade the three men/teens I live with to lay off the spray too 🙄 if anyone has any suggestions for male deodorants let me know and that will definitely be in the stockings at Christmas 🎄

Sorry for delay in reply! (Just checked back here. None of us will have got a notification as you have to click Reply in response to a post in order for the person to get a notification 😊).

I’ve got a Vax Pure Air 300. I still have night time issues but I guess they might be worse if I didn’t have one. You could buy one and then return it within the 30days if you find it’s not doing anything! I did buy a Dyson one initially but found it too noisy.

I’ve also recently thrown out harsher cleaners and use the Method stuff instead (but still have to wear a mask to protect from the fumes). I managed to convince my other half to switch to a stick deodorant (better for the environment too). He’s got a Nivea stick (he first tried Mitchum but said it took too long to dry)!

I found montelukast helped at lot- sleep a bit better since I have been on it- but most importantly I wake feeling almost human (well after the inhalers and caffeine!). Sleep in the arm chair when bad- abandon the bed.

I am really struggling with my sleep. I can't fall asleep and when I do I wake up several times. I take inhaler, have anti allergy bedding, a air purifier. Doesn't seem to help and sometimes I have to take a drowsy antihistamine to knock me out so I can get to work without being a zombie. But it is bain of my life.

I'm trying some weeks are better then others. It's the biggest problem of my symptoms. I'm thinking to go part time because of it. I hope it improves.
