Hi I had asthma when i was a child but hadn't had any problems for approx. 20 years. I've always been prone to chest infections but over the last year or so they were getting worse and more often. Up until about 6 weeks ago my doctor hadn't mentioned anything about my asthma returning but now they are convinced it is back...........i'm not so sure. I don't really remember much of my asthma when i was a child but it certainly didn't feel like this. I am constantly coughing and have have stabbing pains in my back near my shoulder blades. I haven't had any wheezing well not that i've noticed.
Things got worse about 2 weeks ago. I had been coughing so much that i was in agony with the pain. They said it was down to muscular problems with the coughing. That was fine but then i was in so much pain i found it very difficult to move, swallow, eat or drink. I was totally exhausted. Ended up being off work 2weeks which isn't good.
First i was told that my asthma was out of control then i was told i had inflamation of my windpipe thats why it was sore swallowing then they said i had reflux. I was given painkillers which i ended up being allergic and kept throwing up to so was told just to stick to paracetemol then i was given lanoprazole for the reflux which caused diahorrea. I was already very dehydrated and still my doctor wasn't helping. I got my asthma inhalers changed the day i got blood tests and a chest x ray. The results all came back normal. but i'm still very uncomfortable, still coughing and still have the pains in my back. My doctor doesn't seem very concerned or interested to be honest and now i feel like a paranoid freak thats wasting everyones time.
Does anyone have any similiar problems or advice or am i right and i am a paranoid freak??? Sorry its such a long moaning post just really fed up and not sure whats going on.
Ash
