Wish me luck!

Hey everybody

I'm gonna see Dr Mansur in Heartlands tomorrow and am really nervous. Mums having to bribe me with the Bullring and Selfridges but I've had enough of being poked and prodded by loads of Drs whose theories about my asthma are never right!

Wish me luck

Good luck with your appointment Hannah. Have you written down a list of questions you want to ask, and issues you want to raise? I always find that helps me when I am going to see the consultant. It is so easy to forget things, espedially when you are nervous.....

Best of luck, let us know how you get on,

Maz

Thanks guys

Didn't go totally 2 plan-there wasn't really much that doc mansur suggested. Although, he did say he wanted me 2 have an epipen (Not 4 my nut allergy @ the minute) but 4 my asthma as in July i spent a week ventilated and no meds r working properly. He seemed ok until i said i don't think i could inject myself (previous problem with sub cut bricanyl) which is when he started to lose interest. My mum got the same impression. Anyway hope evey1's ok love Hannah xxx

Oh and good luck Chloe

Oh dear Hannah - sorry you didn't feel it was very productive.

Were you given any plan for the future? Are you going to go in for a stay for further tests?

I've been at Heartlands for four years now and always been enormously impressed with the care. Do hope something can be worked out for you.

Hi Hannabella,

I too carry epipens for my asthma because I am brittle and can occasionally go off big time. I find that I don't really care about the pain which isn't that much when the epipen goes in -more like a sharp kick.

They are a life saver and will buy you time getting to A&E.

An epipen is different to the s/c needles - it goes into the muscle on your outer thigh and will go through jeans!

I would get them and see how you cope - you could train family & friends to use it on you if that would help - also paramedics can also give you adrenaline at a slightly higher dose (5mls).

Epipens have saved my life on a few occasions by buying time before the ambulance arives and also getting to A&E where they give me the usual IVs (Magnesium & ventolin or Aminophylline)

There is a trainer pen you can get to play with too - it is available at

epipen.co. uk

Good luck & please take care

Kate
