So I've had a run of bad luck lately, had an asthma "flare up" at the start of the month, ended up in hospital for the very first time, then the day after I finally felt well I had a car accident and bruised my chest wall, now I've got a chest infection. How do you all cope with it all, it just seems to be one thing after another, I'm totally fed up now!

Run of bad luck, when will it end
Hope that you or anyone else was hurt in the accident, You can always get another piece of metal on wheels ,You can not get a new body. at the moment.Dont let it get you down. Break a match then you have had three lots of bad news, or events. When I feel a bit low especialy in Hospital and I am stuck in a room all on my own due to my many medical broblems, I look around when I can and look for someone worse off {It Seams to me} then I feel better and get on with life. I aldso live by my axium that I have been dealt thre cards I can not change them so how can I turn this around to my advantage. It works for me.Stay Well & Keep Safe
Hi,
I understand how the circumstances can be overwhelming sometimes; you haven't recovered from a first problem and the second one is already here knocking on your door.
I do hope that things will get better soon!
What helps me to face it up is the thought that the hard moment will end, it won't last like this forever. I keep that in mind and the perspective that all this (no matter what) will end up helps me.
Asthma is a difficult and unpredictable condition and I do my best to be able to control it. Having it under control really helps me in many ways.
Last but not least, family and a few closed friends help a lot when they are able to listen, even if it's a call or a quick appointment with them!
I wish you all the best and hope this will help,
Ilis
The interesting thing, is that sometimes what we perceived as bad luck - was actually good luck in the end……..that saved us from something much worse! Sometimes we know about it, and sometimes we never know……
It's so much harder to juggle setbacks and unexpected things like an accident when we're feeling unwell. It's one of the big difficulties of chronic illness that is hard for healthy people to grasp. When my asthma is bad and I'm struggling to breathe and feeling cranky, I find that small things can make me much more exasperated or depressed like--why is this all happening at once?!--than normal. I'm glad you were ok in the accident, that is the most important thing. Keep an eye on your chest infection and get in to see your GP if your asthma is still bugging you. It's also traumatic to be in the hospital for an asthma attack so give yourself space to process that-
When it rains it pours. Hopefully, you'll be on the mend and ready to move on from all this soon!
Thanks all, much appreciate it. Seen gp got antibiotics and steroids for Infection so hopefully they'll kick in soon. Hard part is the fact that my gp has quartered my pain killers that where given to me I Hospital following the accident and they just aren't strong enough so I feel like I'm going backwards due to the pain having a knock on effect on how deeply I can breathe. 😭
