swollen ankles
I also have this issue and its become worse over the past few weeks, I did think it was because i was on my feet all day at work but went to the gp to find out. I've been on on water tablets for 2 weeks to see if that makes any difference. Sorry i can't be of much help.
I'm going through the same issue but have recently been changed from pred to hydrocortisone. Some days I can't even get my shoes or wedding ring on. I was put on diuretics for a couple of weeks which have helped but will have to see my GP again. Was told to avoid salt, put legs higher than my heart, & to drink @ 1.5litres a day. I've found support socks ( like you wear for long haul flights) have helped. Also heat was good when ankles felt heavy/achy.
Good luck & hope you can find some answers & relief.
i was put on 250mg antihistomine recently and my ankles swelled doc said they should not make a difference its the weather and age(50+) have since gone to the 10mg type and legs only occasionally swell up.never had the problem before the heavy duty tablets, hope this helps someone
Well I have a pacemaker too. So there's the heart angle. Also I've been told some of the meds I'm on can cause this. Also I work in a hospital where I'm on my feet a lot sometimes which can make things worse. I did find once though that after having a chest infection for like 6 months, my ankles started swelling and that concerned me. Oh, and I also have arthritis and that can cause inflammation/swelling. So really sometimes it's hard for me at least to tell!
I always used to suffer from swollen ankles, I find the less mobile you are the more prone you are to getting them. Make sure you do some kind of ankle exercises a few times a day, nothing strenuous just a few circles to keep your circulation going and stop fluid building up. Also feet up when sitting down.
