chest infection
One fairly sure sign of a chest infection is if you@re coughing up green gunk. That said, sometimes it can be too sticky to cough up so you wouldn't necessarily know what colour it is. Having a temperature is also a sign of infection so may be worth you checking it.
I hope this is helpful.

thanks becky. have coughed up bit green stuff not much but might make gp appt just to check, aint life fun!
Katherine i dont often cough up green gunk but frquently when i cough it tastes infected. I am sorry to be gross but this tells me i have an infection along with high or low temp. Hope this helps i would make an appointment if you are concerned.
Many people will often report a foul or strange taste to their sputum when they have an infection - this is due to the bacteria producing compounds containing sulphur (think bad eggs).
Thanks for advice. still not sure but feel pretty rough so if this is what happens after week bk in work after best part of 5 months off sick wish hadn't bothered chest sore pf naf full of cold and now think am heading for hot bath and bed in hope feel loads better tomorrow. well can't feel any worse. Will prob try for gp appt tomorrow or fri.
