nose bleeds
Hi Katherine
How are you? when I was first diagnosed with asthma I used to get quite a few nosebleeds and the doc said it might be somethin to do with coughing alot, cause at the time I had cough-variant asthma
Hi Katherine my daughter is 6 and has severe asthma. She always has nosebleeds. Her consultant at Great Ormond street said it was due to pressure from coughing and the fact that she is on oxygen day & night at min doesn't help either. Apparently steriods also cause easy bleeding so this may be the reason .Nikki xx
As said by others hunny is prob down to a) steroids and b) coughing, as your nose has many small capikkaries and these can rupture under the elightest pressure ie coughing. sorry mo quick fix/
love andrea xx
Oxygen via nasel cannula will cause nose bleeds. I am OK with 2 litres but anything above is a real problem.

I suddenly started getting nosebleeds when I had to up my inhaled steroid dose. My asthma nurse doesn't believe there's any link but as I'd not had a proper nosebleed since I was a kid & had two full on, streaming ones that lasted about 20 minutes the first two days after increasing my dose I think it's pretty likely! I now hold my nose while I'm doing my steroids so that I can't breathe the steroids out through it. I do find this stops me getting quite enough breath through & I have to stop for a couple of breaths between doses or I get a bit light headed!
