Just wondering if anyone has tried this? I'm having alot of problems with my asthma at the moment and have needed alot of courses of pred and atibiotics and was wondering if anyone had any experience of seeing a homeopath and if it would be worth a try?

Haven't tried this myself, but if you do try it, let us know how your get on! Also heard that Reflexology & The Bowen Technique are good for Asthma, but again its not something I've tried.

Tried homeopathy for my son - made no difference. Also there were so many tablets to take we had to have a timetable. Sorry but I really dont rate it.

I haven't tried homeopathy but I think it's good to try any alternative treatment in conjunction with meds, everything is so individual. I hope it works for you. One thing I do think can be helpful is breathing exercises in controlling symptoms, if you're looking for something non medical. They recommended that to me at the asthma clinic and I'm sure you could ask to be referred.

I have tried Homeopathic medicine, for me it didn't work but for my sister it had amazing results. What I would say is that if you choose to try this treatment please research the practitioner, there are plenty of excellent ones out there, but for every good one there are others who you really shouldn't use. Homeopathic medicine should be seen as a complementary and not alternative, and anyone who suggests that you should do away with any of your conventional treatments should be avoided at all costs. I would also advise out of courtesy you tell your GP and or Respiratory Team, you may or may not get their support, but in case you do experience any health problems whilst using complementary medicine they should know.

I expect that at the moment you are probably reaching out for something to make the best of a difficult period of Asthma, don't expect miracle cure because this won't happen, just think of it as potential to help. Another idea would be to explore complementary therapies that help you de stress and relax, it might be beneficial in helping you to cope with a difficult time. For me that complementary therapy was reflexology, it didn't change my Asthma, but I felt so wonderfully relaxed afterwards that I slept better and therefore was more refreshed to deal with what ever my Asthma threw at me.

Good luck with what ever you decide to do!

Thanks for all the replys, and I think your right katina I am looking for something to help me with this bad time im having with my asthma, I might try seeing my physiotherapist again and try some more breathing excersises.

Thanks again for the relys

Lejaya, I was referred to homeopathic medicine in Great Ormond Street. Because I suffered from numerous asthma attacks from colds and virus triggers. Its difficult to avoid this. The doctor treating me treats conventional asthma too and it helped me. Its worth a try from my experience. The alternative for me is too many hospitalisations.

i have never tried homeopathy, but i have tried osteopathy, wich helped a lot for a while. cant do all that now due to spinal problems, but i still use the buteyko breathing exercises, especially the afghan walk (rythmic breathing when walking, adapted to each person and changeable as time goes on). pm me if you want more info, and ill try to remember/find the website again.

I have had enormous success using homeopathic remedies in the past. I just ordered a combination remedy from Swansonvitamins.com. Since I plan to use it in addition to my other meds, I feel I am not taking risks. My physician recommends alternate therapies, but I will tell him specifically. Good luck. Smikra
