Saw the consultant today. He is also puzzled as to why my asthma has flared up. Put me onto motelukast tablets - hope I react better to these than Uniphyllin.
I also had a chest x-ray, being tested for allergies and going to have lung function tests - oh joy!
Anyone got any stories of Montelukast and what to expect?
They also get called Singulair. There are quite a lot of posts on here about it and there appear to be a lot of us on this medication! I find them helpful anf they have seemed to make a difference to the severity of my flare ups, especially at night time. I think they stop allergic reactions happening inside the lungs
Good luck with them.
Give it a few weeks before you start to notice the benefits, but it takes upto 3 months for some before you get maximum benefit. I love it, unfortunately I don't have any at the moment, damn postal strikes mean it's in the system ARGH!
Montelukast
Hi
I have been taking this now for nearly two years and have found it, combined with the other medication I am on to have been very successful at controlling my asthma. I started taking it in January 2007 and now take it alongside Symbicort SMART and was prescribed it by the consultant after a bad flare up and the GP had struggled to bring my asthma back under control.
Good luck - stick with it and like has already been said it will take a while to work but it does.
