Im going to Australia next year for my friends wedding, and am wondering about travel insurance. I have heard of one person with asthma being charged mega amounts just going to Europe somewhere and was wondering what companies / deals you have had because of your asthma and would be able to recommend anyone ..???
i have mine through barclays. but it's part of our account and i can't remember how much we paid teh year we got it seperatly.
I have just booked annual worldwide multi-trip insurance as I'm on hol for a week monday and then have got a trip to the Caribbean and USA planned as part of my degree next year. I got mine for just under £90 with insure and go which includes a premium of £27.50 for the asthma and also up to 90 days out the country at any one time! Post office who i have used before are great for short trips but wanted to charge me £135 this time (still good though and as kate said a reliable company). Sadly my student budget opted for the cheapest option!
I rung over 10 companies to price match and had prices from the one i got up to £160.
Hope you find something.

Hey,
We just booked a Norwegian cruise for my 21st in Feb and I had to shop around for insurance because I have interstitial lung disease and use oxygen 24/7. One company, Unique, for the British lung foundation quoted me £620 for 7 nights cover! With an excess of £500. Most would gladly insure me for everything other than my lung disease then I came across 24drtravel.com/ on the money saving experts forum and they've covered me for £156 with an excess of £50, bit of a difference from £620...
TKS, that is not bad at all! Will remember them in future, Your trip sounds good! I hope you enjoy it! Just relised only 2 & half months till trip to Falklands! Eeek!

I can honestly say that I fully recommend insureandgo.com - they were by far the cheapest - even than post office - provide annual insurance for less than most others provide for a week or two - and still cover me even though on a whole cocktail of drugs!
Also beware - if intending to go to Spain (and another country but forgotten which) have to pay an extra £20 as the health system is ""More Expenisve"" (was told Spanish get more for their money!)
HOnestly I saved loads - so do have a look - and they DEF do pay out - some backpacking friends made LOADS of claims...
The US, Canada and the Caribean (?) are more expensive too!
Italy was OK even if they are health obsessed and there is a pharmacy on every street corner and apparently they have fruit baskets full of pills!
Just done mine through Freedom, specialist company for people with illnesses. None of the other insurance companies would insure me (well not for asthma anyway). I've got brittle asthma, on a suitcase full of meds, including regular nebs, been in and out of hosp and ITU and they've just done 2 weeks to Spain for £140 which is a bargin as the only other company who offered insurance wanted £5000 YES I SAID £ 5000 FIVE THOUSAND POUND!!!!!!!!!!
